Regulations

Wolverine Pipe Line Company operates with the public’s trust. To help ensure that trust and protect the public, the pipeline industry is heavily regulated.

The main regulatory agency is the Office of Pipeline Safety at the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), part of the U. S. Department of Transportation. PHMSA’s responsibilities include assuring the safe transportation of hazardous materials by pipeline. We also interface and comply with other Federal agencies including the Environmental Protection Agency, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the U.S Coast Guard, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

Wolverine meets and strives to exceed the technical standards set for the pipeline industry. Standards apply to all phases of pipeline safety. Some examples include welding, manufacture of line pipe, pipeline wall thickness and Operator Qualified trained repair personnel.
