This summer, Wolverine Pipe Line Company (Wolverine) has held two boom deployment exercises, one in Marshall, MI, and one in Niles, MI, showcasing its commitment to emergency preparedness. These exercises involved key participation from local agencies including the Buchanan Township Fire Department, Berrien County Sheriff, and Berrien County Emergency Management.
Chris Burks of the Buchanan Township Fire Department shared, “Exercises like these are crucial for our department because they enhance the readiness of our personnel in any real-life emergency situations. Through hands-on drills like these, emergency responders can refine their skills, learn how equipment is operated, and understand what a response to an incident looks like. These opportunities also strengthen teamwork and communication, so that during an actual emergency, our crews work seamlessly together. Additionally, this exercise allowed us to identify areas of improvement and keeps us prepared to maintain the safety of both our team and the community we serve.”
