Midland County Emergency Food Pantry Receives $500 Grant from Wolverine Pipe Line Company

Midland County, Mich. – Wolverine Pipe Line Company (Wolverine) granted a $500 check to the Midland County Emergency Food Pantry (E.F.P.N) to support its work of providing gift certificates, food and supplies, as well as fund programs such as the Backpack Buddies Program, mobile pantries, and the nutritional supplement program in Midland County. The check was part of Wolverine’s Good Neighbor Grant Program, where money is used to fund good work in communities along their pipeline route.

The E.F.P.N. in Midland County has kept regular programs going amidst recent flooding as well as helped provide food to flood distribution centers like the food program at St John’s Lutheran, where 200 displaced people are fed each day. The food pantry has coordinated with eight other pantries, supported churches, groups, and agencies in the distribution of food and supplies.

“Wolverine’s generosity in support of our ministry in Midland County is appreciated greatly. All contributions will enable us to better serve those who have emergency or critical needs for food, personal care items, and cleaning supplies,” said Sally Ann Sutton, a Board Member of the E.F.P.N. in Midland County. “We are very grateful to Wolverine and to many other churches, businesses, groups, and individuals who donate time, food, and money to help us achieve our vision. Thank you, Wolverine, for enabling us to carry out our mission: Always Food in Every Home!”

The Midland County Emergency Food Pantry Network is a non-profit, tax-exempt charitable organization established in 1983 as a cooperative effort of area churches and other organizations to provide food and supplies to people in Midland County who have emergency needs and are living near or below the Federal poverty level income guidelines.

“Given recent flooding, we made it a priority to support the Midland community this year with our Good Neighbor Grant Program,” said Brian Wilson, Local Area Supervisor at Wolverine. “We are proud to support organizations like the Midland County Emergency Food Pantry.”
