Kalamazoo, Mich. – Wolverine Pipe Line Company (Wolverine) granted a $500 check to Family & Children Services. Family & Children Services will use the grant money to fund the ‘Handle with Care Program’ which provides donations to local families who are in great need. The check was part of Wolverine’s Good Neighbor Grant Program, where money is used to fund good work in communities along their pipeline route.
The community benefits because this program increases the amount of support the families and children in need receive from local businesses seeking full engagement in their community. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, many families have experienced hunger, emotional distress, and coping difficulties. The Family & Children Services ‘Handle with Care Program’ provides items, such as resources for food and daily essentials, to help keep those in their community safe and well.
“Wolverine’s donation provides a light for families who are already experiencing hardship and are more deeply impacted by the current health crisis,” said Sherry Thomas-Cloud, CEO of Family & Children Services. “Every dollar of this generous grant helps us to fulfill our mission to support families and children who cannot provide for their basic, critical needs.”
Since 1903, Family & Children Services has been the voice of concern and compassion for our most vulnerable citizens. The organization responds to each community and its changing needs, inviting community members to join them through donation and volunteer service.
The Agency offers a continuum of behavioral health, child welfare, and crisis services as one organization – board members, staff and foster parents – with a unity of purpose. All services are strength-based and client-centered, supporting individuals and families as they create healthy changes in their lives. Family & Children Services is dedicated to best practices in human service delivery in the community.
“Family & Children Services is quick to meet the needs of their community, truly exemplifying the idea of what it means to be a good neighbor,” said Lou Kraus, Right-of-Way & Claims Supervisor at Wolverine. “We are more than happy to contribute to their ‘Handle with Care Program’.”
