Ann Arbor, Mich. – Wolverine Pipe Line Company (Wolverine) has granted a $1,000 check to the Washtenaw County Hazardous Materials Response Authority. The Washtenaw County Hazardous Materials Response Authority will use the funds for their 20th Annual Golf Outing, where funds raised at the event will assist the Response Team in purchasing needed equipment that will enhance their ability to support the safety of local citizens.
The Hazardous Materials Response Team Authority Board for Washtenaw and Adjacent Communities was created to assist contracting local fire departments. The partnership provides a trained and equipped hazardous materials response team that provides on-scene support to the incident commander, including hazardous incident rescue when possible; and for the purpose of confining, containing, plugging, patching or otherwise stopping life-threatening or environmentally dangerous chemical releases.
“We are grateful to Wolverine for the generous sponsorship that makes possible the fundraising efforts of our annual golf outing,” said Russ Girbach, Team Director for Washtenaw County Hazardous Materials Response Authority.
The Washtenaw County Hazardous Materials Response Team solely relies on fundraising, grant appropriations, and cost recovery for annual funding. Any involvement and support is an investment in the safety of Washtenaw County and surrounding areas.
“Entities like the Washtenaw County Hazardous Materials Response Authority are exactly the kind of neighbors we depend on in the event of a pipeline emergency,” said Brian Wilson, Local Area Supervisor at Wolverine Pipe Line Company. “Wolverine is excited to sponsor this event to assist the Response Team in upgrading safety-focused equipment.”
